Remembering Sal Calise

We regret to report that long-time Lion Sal Calise passed away peacefully at age 75 on July 29th, in Horsham. Sal was husband for 47 years to Gloria (Meyer) Calise. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by the Horsham Sewer Authority.

Sal was former chairman of the Horsham Republican Party, and served as committeeman for 42 years.

He was one of 23 charter members of the Horsham Lions Club in April of 1975, and served as President from 1986-1986.

He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by two sisters, Molly Taylor and Mary Sandone.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvatore Calise Memorial Fund can be made care of Horsham Township Department of Parks and Recreation, 1025 Horsham Road.

Sal participated in all of the Lion’s fundraisers for many years. Sal often had cookout picnics for the Lions at his house. Many of the Lions’ installation ceremonies were conducted at Sal’s house. He is fondly remembered as a very nice guy, and a hard worker. Many Lions remember Sal’s comical way of standing in the street waving cars into the lot during the Air Show parking fundraisers.

Our heartfelt prayers go to his family and friends.
